Fleet Professional (CPFP) through the American Public Works Association

Background
Robert Aaron, Fleet Manager for the City of Lawrence since
2014, achieved certification as a CPFP in November 2018. This is a significant
accomplishment attained by only those who have demonstrated knowledge of
operations and experience in the fleet management field. The rigorous exam
covers:
- Operations (maintenance of vehicle, equipment, facilities,
and fixed equipment; parts; fuel and lubricants management; repair
policies and strategies)
- General Management and Business (strategic planning,
business planning, and marketing; customer service and collaboration;
ethics)
- Asset Management (needs determination; research
acquisition; utilization; replacement; disposal of vehicle, equipment and
parts)
- Financial Management (budgeting; cost recovery; fleet
operating procedures; vehicle replacement funding; record keeping)
- Human Resource Management (staffing; work environment;
employee training; policies and procedures)
- Risk Management (workplace safety management; vehicle
damage; contract compliance; regulatory compliance)
- Environmental Management (shop best practices; regulatory
compliance)
- Information Management and Technology Systems
