ORDINANCE NO. 9586

 

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCE, KANSAS, AMENDING CHAPTER XVII, ARTICLE 1, SECTION 17-402.1 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCE, KANSAS, 2018 EDITION, AND AMENDMENTS THERETO, PERTAINING TO TEMPORARY LOADING ZONES, AND REPEALING EXISTING SECTION 17-402.1.

 

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCE, KANSAS:

 

SECTION 1. Chapter XVII, Article 1, Section 17-402.1 of the Code of the City of Lawrence, Kansas, 2018 Edition, and amendments thereto, is hereby amended to read as follows.

 

17-402.1          TEMPORARY LOADING ZONES.

The City Commission or the City Manager or his or her designee may designate temporary loading zones on public streets, alleys and public parking areas.  The length of allowed temporary loading shall be posted adjacent to the designated street, alley or public parking area zone.  No person shall park a vehicle in a temporary loading zone beyond the time designated for a temporary loading zone.  The City shall have the authority to order a vehicle violating the provisions of this section to be towed or otherwise removed with all of the expenses of the towing or removal to be borne by the owner of the vehicle.  In addition thereto, a violation of this section shall be a municipal traffic offense and subject to a fine of a minimum of $30.00.

 

SECTION 2. Section 17-402.1 of the Code of the City of Lawrence, Kansas, 2018 Edition and amendments thereto, is hereby repealed, it being the intent that the provisions of this ordinance supersede the repealed Code sections.

 

SECTION 3. If any section, sentence, clause, or phrase of this ordinance is found to be unconstitutional or is otherwise held invalid by any court of competent jurisdiction, it shall not affect the validity of any remaining parts of this ordinance.

 

SECTION 4. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force after its passage and publication as provided by law.
