ORDINANCE NO. 9581

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCE, KANSAS, AMENDING CHAPTER XVII, ARTICLE 1, SECTION 17-112 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCE, KANSAS, 2018 EDITION, AND AMENDMENTS THERETO, PERTAINING TO STOPPING OR PARKING IN HAZARDOUS OR CONGESTED PLACES, AND REPEALING EXISTING SECTION 17-112.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCE, KANSAS:

SECTION 1: Chapter XVII, Article 1, Section 17-112 of the Code of the City of Lawrence, Kansas, 2018 Edition, and amendments thereto, is hereby amended to read as follows:

17-112             AMENDMENTS TO STO; STOPPING OR PARKING, IN HAZARDOUS OR CONGESTED PLACES; SIGNS.

Section 95 is hereby deleted.

Section 95 is hereby amended to read as follows:

When signs are erected upon approach to hazardous or congested places, no person shall stop, stand, or park a vehicle in any such designated place.  The City Manager or his or her designee is authorized to determine and designate by proper signs those places where the stopping or parking of vehicles would create an especially hazardous condition or would cause unusual delay to traffic.

SECTION 2: Section 17-112 of the Code of the City of Lawrence, Kansas, 2018 Edition and amendments thereto, is hereby repealed, it being the intent that the provisions of this ordinance supersede the repealed Code sections.

SECTION 3: If any section, sentence, clause, or phrase of this ordinance is found to be unconstitutional or is otherwise held invalid by any court of competent jurisdiction, it shall not affect the validity of any remaining parts of this ordinance.

SECTION 4: This ordinance shall take effect and be in force after its passage and publication as provided by law.
