ORDINANCE NO. 9580
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCE, KANSAS, AMENDING CHAPTER XVII, ARTICLE 1, SECTION 17-111 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCE, KANSAS, 2018 EDITION, AND AMENDMENTS THERETO, PERTAINING TO PARKING ADJACENT TO SCHOOLS, AND REPEALING EXISTING SECTION 17-111.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCE, KANSAS:
SECTION 1: Chapter XVII, Article 1, Section 17-111 of the Code of the City of Lawrence, Kansas, 2018 Edition, and amendments thereto, is hereby amended to read as follows:
17-111 AMENDMENTS TO STO; PARKING, ADJACENT TO SCHOOLS; SIGNS.
Section 94 is hereby
deleted.
Section 94 is hereby amended to read as follows:
When official signs or markings are placed indicating no parking upon any street adjacent to any school property, no person shall park a vehicle in any such designated place. The City Manager or his or her designee is authorized to erect signs indicating “No Parking” upon either or both sides of any street adjacent to any school property when such parking would unreasonably interfere with traffic or create a hazard to traffic in such places.
SECTION 2: Section 17-111 of the Code of the City of Lawrence, Kansas, 2018 Edition and amendments thereto, is hereby repealed, it being the intent that the provisions of this ordinance supersede the repealed Code sections.
SECTION 3: If any section, sentence, clause, or phrase of this ordinance is found to be unconstitutional or is otherwise held invalid by any court of competent jurisdiction, it shall not affect the validity of any remaining parts of this ordinance.
SECTION 4: This ordinance shall take effect and be in force after its passage and publication as provided by law.
