RESOLUTION NO. 7264
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING ACQUISITION, CONSTRUCTION, DESIGN, RECONSTRUCTION, REPAIR, REPLACEMENT AND/OR EQUIPPING CERTAIN PUBLIC BUILDINGS AND FACILITIES OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCE, KANSAS; AND AUTHORIZING ISSUANCE OF GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDS AND/OR TEMPORARY NOTES FOR THE PURPOSE OF PAYING THE COSTS THEREOF.
WHEREAS, the City of Lawrence, Kansas (the “City”) is authorized pursuant to Charter Ordinance No. 40 of the City to erect or construct, acquire by gift, purchase, condemnation or lease a public building or facility and procure any necessary site by purchase and may design, alter, repair, reconstruct, remodel, renovate, replace or make additions to, furnish and equip a public building or facility; and
WHEREAS, the governing body of the City hereby finds and determines it to be necessary to make certain improvements to certain public buildings and facilities within the City, including Municipal Court and Planning and Development Services facilities to be located at 1 Riverfront Plaza, top floor of west side, and further finds and determines that the costs thereof may be financed by the issuance of general obligation temporary notes or bonds of the City.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCE, KANSAS:
SECTION 1. It is hereby deemed and declared to be necessary to authorize the acquisition, design, alteration, repair, reconstruction, remodel, renovation, replacement or making additions to, furnishing and equipping of and making any necessary and related improvements to Municipal Court and Planning and Development Services facilities to be located at 1 Riverfront Plaza within the City (collectively, the “Improvements”).
SECTION 2. It is necessary and desirable to authorize the issuance of general obligation temporary notes or bonds of the City pursuant to Charter Ordinance No. 40 to pay a portion of the costs of the Improvements, in a principal amount not to exceed $180,000, plus costs of issuance and interest on temporary financing for said Improvements. Said notes and bonds may be issued to reimburse expenditures made on or after the date which is 60 days before the date of this Resolution, pursuant to Treasury Regulation 1.150-2. The balance of the proposed $1,101,000 project costs are expected to be paid from the Equipment Reserve Fund and Capital Reserve Fund.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect and be in full force immediately after its adoption by the governing body of the City.
