Recommendations/Options/Action Requested:
Call a special meeting for October 19, 2018, beginning at 12:00 p.m., in the City Commission Room, allowing Commissioners to attend a joint Planning Commission, Board of County Commissioners, and City Commission meeting to receive a presentation on the draft revised comprehensive plan, Plan 2040.
Executive Summary:		Annually, the Lawrence-Douglas County Planning Commission holds an orientation day inviting the City Commission and Board of County Commissioners to lunch and to participate in their continuing education and discussion on relevant topics.  This year the Planning Commission will receive a presentation on the draft edition of Plan 2040, a comprehensive plan for the City of Lawrence and Unincorporated Douglas County. The Kansas Open Meetings Act requires that the City Commission call a special meeting if the Commissioners are to attend this joint meeting to receive the presentation about the draft revised comprehensive plan.  No action will be taken on the plan at this meeting, but discussion amongst the commissions about the plan’s elements will be encouraged.
