RE:	Annexation of 1677 E 1000 Road

Background

City staff’s agenda report regarding the Queens Road and 6^th and Queens Road benefit districts included a recommendation to annex 1677 E 1000 Road. The property is located adjacent to city limits and will benefit from the proposed improvements. The agenda memo stated that the property owner opposes annexation. Since the May 1^st meeting agenda was posted though, staff received a request to unilaterally annex the property with the stipulation that the payment of special assessments be deferred for a period of 10 years or upon the sale of the property, whichever occurs first.

Deferral of special assessments is within the City Commission’s authority and similar deferrals have been granted as part of previous annexations. Staff recommends pursing the annexation.
