1-2506: Qualifications	Added “or own a business within the City of Lawrence, Kansas” to the list of qualifications	To be consistent with the requirements under Resolution 7224 (under 2(1)[b]) regarding standard policies and procedures for advisory boards.
1-2506: Qualifications	Added “obstruction” as a disqualifying conviction	State statute previously referred to this crime as “obstruction,” but now calls it “interference.” City Ordinance also calls this crime “interference.” The two terms refer to a substantially similar crime, and the term obstruction is added to include violation of state law when it was previously referred to as such.
1-2506: Qualifications	Added new subsections (c) and (d) to clarify that a background check will only be conducted upon a conditional offer of appointment. Further, (d) states that if it is discovered that an application was fraudulent, to include a misrepresentation or a false statement, the Board Member will immediately be removed from the Board.	Clarification on when background checks are conducted for efficiency purposes. The statement regarding removal based upon a misrepresentation is added to encourage truthful applications.
1-2507: Confidentiality	Clarifying that Board Members may receive any complaint, not just ones related to racial or other bias-based policing. However, only racial or other bias-based policing complaints may be appealed. Cleaned up an inconsistency in terminology to identify the signed document as a confidentiality agreement rather than a non-disclosure statement. Added “and others” to make clear that the privacy of others persons involved with an investigation (the complainant, witness, etc.) must also be protected, in addition to the police officer.	The change related to “any other complaint they receive” was requested by LPOA and directed to be added by the City Commission. The other changes are made for clarification purposes.
1-2509: Terms	Added the term “consecutive” to state that a member may serve two consecutive three year terms.	To be consistent with the requirements under Resolution 7224 (under 2(2)[c]) regarding standard policies and procedures for advisory boards.
