Award Bid No. B1751 for Capital Improvement Project PW17E1, Kasold Drive from 6th Street to Bob Billings Parkway to R.D. Johnson Excavating in the amount of $5,869,920.85 (base bid).

 

Executive Summary:

The project is a total reconstruction of Kasold from 6th Street to Bob Billings Parkway.  The improvements include concrete pavement, two lanes in each direction and a center turn lane, bike lanes, a sidewalk and multiuse path, storm sewer, signalization of the intersections at Harvard Road and Kasold Drive and 8th Street and Kasold Drive, and water main replacement.

 

Right-of-way acquisition is complete and utilities have been relocated.  Construction will begin in the next month and continue through the end of 2018.  The project will be phased to maintain north/south traffic throughout the project with access provided to adjacent property owners.

 

The city received seven bids and the low base bidder was R.D. Johnson Excavating at $5,869,920.85.

This project was included in both the 2017 and 2018 Budget and Capital Improvement Program (CIP# PW17E1). Total project costs were estimated at $8,075,000, including engineering services ($516,125), right-of-way acquisition ($48,768), construction costs and contingencies, with funding coming from the following sources.
