Proclamation

Lawrence, Kansas

 

WHEREAS:   2018 marks the 16th year of Read Across Lawrence, an annual community-wide reading event that encourages everyone in Lawrence to read and discuss the same book, and runs from February 10 – March 17; and

 

WHEREAS:   This year’s program will feature a single book titled “Wonder”, by RJ Palacio and features themes of kindness, friendship, and acceptance that will resonate with children, teens, and adults in our community; and

 

WHEREAS:   The Lawrence Public Library encourages citizens to keep track of their acts of kindness throughout the Read Across Lawrence month so that by the conclusion of the program, Lawrence will be an official “Certified-Kind Community”.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Stuart Boley Mayor of the City of Lawrence, Kansas, do hereby proclaim February 10 through March 17, 2018 as
