Office of the Mayor
Proclamation
Lawrence, Kansas
WHEREAS: Home care services provide high quality and compassionate health care services to more than five million Americans annually, especially in times of community or personal health care crisis, allowing an alternative to hospitalization or other institution-based forms of health care for acute and chronic illnesses; and home care is the preferred method of health care delivery among the disabled, elderly, and chronically ill individuals eager to live independently in their own homes as long as they possibly can, allowing for greater health, dignity, comfort and families to stay together; and
WHEREAS: Two million everyday heroes, including nurses, therapists, aides, companions, social workers, dieticians, chaplains, volunteers and administrative staff work tirelessly to provide professional support to millions of Americans in need of quality health services. In Lawrence, Douglas County Visiting Nurses Association has been doing so since 1969.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Leslie Soden, Mayor of the City of Lawrence, Kansas, do hereby proclaim the month of November as
in Lawrence and encourage the support and participation of all citizens in learning more about the home care and hospice for the elderly, disabled, and infirm.
