Proclamation
Lawrence, Kansas
WHEREAS: Pattie Johnston began her service at the Lawrence Public Library, exactly forty-five years ago today, on November 21, 1972; and
WHEREAS: Ms. Johnston’s first library job was as a College Page, and in January 1979, she rose to the position of Director of the Circulation Department, and in 2001, she became the Library’s Senior Outreach Coordinator; and
WHEREAS: Ms. Johnston has served the Lawrence Community in numerous other ways, including volunteering as a member of the Senior Resource Center of Douglas County Board, the Lawrence Douglas County Advocacy Council on Aging, the Douglas County Food Policy Council, and as a graduate of the Citizen Journalism Academy; and
WHEREAS: Pattie Johnston’s forty-five years of work at, and for, the Lawrence Public Library make her the longest serving employee in the 113-year history of the Lawrence Public Library.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Leslie Soden, Mayor of the City of Lawrence, Kansas, do hereby proclaim Tuesday, November 21, 2017 as
