Recommendations/Options/Action Requested:

 

Adopt on first readings, Ordinance No. 9411, repealing the Lawrence Advisory Board on University Student Issues; Ordinance No. 9412, repealing the Downtown Parking Advisory Board, and Ordinance No. 9413, repealing the ECO2 Commission. 

 

Executive Summary:

In early August 2017, the City Commission held a work session addressing advisory boards, specifically relating to standardizing and streamlining advisory boards and committees.  Staff had identified three (3) boards that are currently outlined in the City code which are no longer functioning and have no appointees.  These boards include the Lawrence Advisory Board on University Student Issues, the Downtown Parking Advisory Board, and the ECO2 Commission.  The ECO2 Commission was established as a shared board with Douglas County.  Douglas County previously took action repealing this Commission.  Staff is recommending that these boards be formally rescinded, which is what is accomplished by the passage of these ordinances.
