Executive Summary:

Margot Day presented her mural concept to the Lawrence Cultural Arts Commission on October 11. Ms. Day was friends with Erin and Mazey Berg who were the victims of a murder-suicide incident in Douglas County in August. Ms. Day wants to paint a celebratory mural honoring their lives and providing 211 contact information for anyone who may need help. She has secured permission from the property owner and received administrative approval from Historic Resources staff. The text in her design does not require Sign Code review if it’s under 2 square feet to which the artist has agreed.

The Cultural Arts Commission approved her mural design with the understanding that it will be approximately 5 feet wide by 8 feet tall or smaller and with the stipulation that she also secure all other appropriate approvals which she has.
