Presentation of the City’s transparency Reporting Platform. No action required.

 

Executive Summary:

Staff utilized an on-line tool to manage and create reports during the 2018 budget process. When the budget was completed, the City placed a link to the on-line budget for citizens to have access to the budget:

Moving to this transparency platform is allowing staff to make progress on several Action Items in the governing body’s strategic initiatives:

·         Develop a plan to implement priority based budgeting and enhance communication in the annual budget process.

·         Develop and communicate a long-term financial strategy

 

The next phase of the Finance Department transparency initiative is to provide direct on-line access to financial reporting for citizens. A representative of OpenGov will be giving the governing body a preview of the City’s on-line reporting platform.

Fiscal Impact (Amount/Source):

The City pays $45,000 for the Transparency platform. The fee is allocated across all budgeted cost centers in the 2018 Budget.
