Recommendations/Options/Action Requested:

Approve request for traffic calming measures on Lincoln Street, from 3rd Street to 7th Street.

Executive Summary:

At the August 7, 2017 Transportation Commission Meeting, the board considered a request to install traffic calming devices on Lincoln Street, from 3rd Street to 7th Street. In 2009, requests were approved to reduce the speed limit on Lincoln Street from 30 mph to 25 mph. In 2011, requests were approved to install four-way stop signs at the Lincoln and 3rd Street and Lincoln and 7th Street intersections. In May 2017, the Transportation Commission received a request for traffic calming on Lincoln Street, from 3rd Street to 7th Street. Traffic data obtained during July 2017, found that the 85th percentile traffic speed was nine (9) mph over the posted speed limit of 25 mph, which meets the criteria for installing traffic calming devices. City staff recommended approval of the request.

Seven (7) residents spoke in favor of the traffic calming devices and one (1) resident spoke in opposition. The Transportation commission voted 11-0 to recommend approval of the request.
