Recommendations/Options/Action Requested: |
Authorize the City Manager to execute licenses for use of city properties as part of the Common Ground Program’s incubator farm program to the following growers: Nancy Hunt (1.0 acres), David Gundy (0.25 acres), Antonia States (0.5 acres). |
Executive Summary: |
These three licenses are for participation in the Common Ground community garden and farming program, for space at the Incubator Farm at Hwy 24/40 and Hwy 59 on the 5 acre lot just east of Maple Grove Cemetery. All other Common Ground licenses are no cost to participants, but, in recognition of the commercial nature of these farms (all are selling their produce to local markets), these growers are charged a license fee of $100/acre.
The total number of Common Ground sites is now 10 – a variety of orchards, farms, and gardens scattered throughout the City, in which 200+ gardeners grow healthy foods in their neighborhoods. |
