RESOLUTION NO. 7217
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING ACQUISITION, CONSTRUCTION, DESIGN, RECONSTRUCTION, REPAIR, REPLACEMENT AND/OR EQUIPPING CERTAIN PUBLIC BUILDINGS AND FACILITIES OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCE, KANSAS AND AUTHORIZING ISSUANCE OF GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDS AND/OR TEMPORARY NOTES FOR THE PURPOSE OF PAYING THE COSTS THEREOF.
WHEREAS, the City of Lawrence, Kansas (the “Issuer”) is authorized pursuant to Charter Ordinance No. 40 of the City to erect or construct a public building or facility and procure any necessary site by purchase and may design, alter, repair, reconstruct, remodel, renovate, replace or make additions to, furnish and equip a public building or facility; and
WHEREAS, the governing body of the Issuer hereby finds and determines it to be necessary to construct and make certain improvements to the following public buildings and facilities within the City (the “Project”):
(a) Fire Medical Building Improvements, Fire Station #4 (2121 Wakarusa Dr.) and Station #5 (1911 Stewart Avenue) – drainage and site improvements, including grading, installation of drainage piping and concrete replacement; and
(b) Community Health Building (200 Maine St.) – stabilization including mud jacking the floor and flooring repair and concrete replacement.
and further finds and determines that the costs thereof may be financed by the issuance of general obligation temporary notes or bonds of the Issuer.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCE, KANSAS:
SECTION 1. It is hereby deemed and declared to be necessary to authorizing the acquisition, design, construction and equipping of the Project at an estimated cost of $135,500 plus costs of issuance and interest on any temporary financing.
SECTION 2. It is necessary to issue general obligation notes and/or bonds of the City pursuant to Charter Ordinance No. 40, in an amount not to exceed $112,750 plus costs of issuance and interest on any financing, to pay the costs of the Project and financing costs. Said notes and bonds may be issued to reimburse expenditures made on or after the date which is 60 days before the date of this Resolution, pursuant to Treasury Regulation 1.150-2.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall be effective from and after adoption by the Governing Body.
