ORDINANCE NO. 9388

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCE, KANSAS, AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 9274, INCREASING THE BUDGET OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCE, KANSAS, FOR THE LIBRARY FUND, AIRPORT FUND, CITY PARKS MEMORIAL FUND, HOUSING TRUST FUND, AND TDD/TIF/NRA FUND FOR THE CALENDAR YEAR COMMENCING JANUARY 1, 2017.

WHEREAS, the Governing Body of the City of Lawrence, Kansas, desires to amend the 2017 City Budget to the increase the budget for the Library Fund, Airport Fund, City Parks Memorial Fund, Housing Trust Fund, and TDD/TIF/NRA Fund in order to increase expenditure authority from cash carried forward;

WHEREAS, the Governing Body caused to be published on the 14 day of July, 2017, in accordance with K.S.A. 79-2929a, as amended, in the Lawrence Journal-World, a daily newspaper of general circulation within Douglas County, Kansas, notice of a public hearing to be conducted on August 1, 2017, at 5:45 o’clock p.m., or as soon thereafter as the matter could be heard, at the City Commission Chambers, City Hall, Lawrence, Kansas, for the purpose of answering and hearing objections of taxpayers relating to the 2017 Amended City Budget; and

WHEREAS, such public hearing was held at the time and place designated for the purposes stated, all as provided in the published notice of said hearing.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCE, KANSAS:

SECTION 1. The above-stated recitals are incorporated herein by reference and are made a part of this ordinance as if set forth in full.

SECTION 2. Ordinance No. 9274, adopting the 2017 City Budget, is hereby amended to increase the Library Fund budget to $4,131,000, the Airport Fund budget to $170,000, the City Parks Memorial Fund budget to $38,000, the Housing Trust Fund budget to $380,000, and the TDD/TIF/NRA Fund budget to $2,689,000.

SECTION 3. The following is a summary of the amendments to the 2017 City Budget:

SECTION 4. The Governing Body certifies that the amendments to the 2017 City Budget will be funded by non-property tax sources of revenue.

SECTION 5. The City Clerk is directed to file the 2017 Amended City budget with the County Clerk of Douglas County, Kansas, as provided by law.
