Lawrence, Kansas

WHEREAS:   In 1972, the Ms. Wheelchair America program was established by Dr. Philip K. Wood, a Columbus Ohio physician who devoted his career to the treatment and rehabilitation of people with disabilities; and

WHEREAS:   The Ms. Wheelchair Kansas program was started in 2004 and held its first annual event in 2005.  There have been thirteen titleholders since its creation in 2004 and was officially incorporated in 2015; and

WHEREAS:   Mrs. Deborah Young was crowned as Ms. Wheelchair Kansas 2017 on March 19, 2017 and will serve as a role model and spokesperson for people with disabilities in Kansas throughout the coming year.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Leslie Soden, Mayor of the City of Lawrence, Kansas, do hereby recognize Mrs. Deborah Young as
