Adopt on first reading Ordinance No. 9372, allowing the sale, possession and consumption of alcohol on the public right-of-way on Friday, July 14, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 11:59 p.m. on the sidewalk from 1016 Massachusetts Street to 1040 Massachusetts Street for the Lawrence Field Day Festival event.

Executive Summary: |
The Lawrence Field Day Festival event organizers have applied for street event temporary use of right of way permit for their 2017 event which will be held on Friday, July 14, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 11:59 p.m. on the sidewalk from 1016 Massachusetts Street to 1040 Massachusetts Street.
The event applicant has requested an ordinance authorizing the sale, possession and consumption of alcohol from 1016 Massachusetts Street to 1040 Massachusetts Street for the event.
The request to sell, possess and consume alcohol within the public right of way has been reviewed pursuant to City of Lawrence Code, Chapter IV, Article 1, Section 4-113 and was not found to be within 400 feet of a church or school.
The applicant has obtained permission from the adjacent property owners to close the sidewalk in front of these addresses for the event. In addition, coordination with Parks and Recreation, Public Works, Police, Fire/Medical, Downtown Lawrence Inc., Lawrence Transit, Explore Lawrence, and Lawrence Association of Neighborhoods was completed with no issues being identified. |
