Award Bid #B1738 – Outdoor Aquatic Center Pool Painting to J.F. McGivern, Inc. in the amount of $137,845. |
Executive Summary: |
Painting of the swimming pools at the Outdoor Aquatic Center is a maintenance task scheduled every five to six years and is scheduled for the outdoor pools once the aquatic center closes for the season. Due to the declining condition of the pools’ concrete and the deterioration of existing painted surfaces, the traditional method for removing paint, a quick brush blast of the surface, is not adequate for this fall’s painting. Instead, the removal of all paint from pool surfaces and the replacement of all caulked joints are recommended.
In March 2016, the project was estimated between $70,000-$80,000 and was not listed as part of the 2017 CIP. When bids were requested, it was known that estimates would be higher due to change in project scope. Funding for the project is available in the Park and Recreation General Fund Budget, covering the entire $137,845 needed for the project. The following are bids received on May 30:
