Award Bid No. 1735 to Banks Construction, LLC and authorize the City Manager to execute the construction contract in the amount of $368,939.20 for the 10th Street – Arkansas Street to Illinois Street and Maine Street – 10th Street to Fambrough Drive Waterline Replacement Project UT1702.

 

Executive Summary:

The 10th Street - Arkansas Street to Illinois Street and Maine Street – 10th Street to Fambrough Drive Waterline Replacement includes the replacement of approximately 1,600 feet of 6” cast iron pipe from the 1920’s and 500 feet of 8” cast iron pipe from the 1960’s with 8” PVC waterline. The project also includes valves, fittings, fire hydrants, and other miscellaneous appurtenances for the waterlines located along 10th Street and Maine Street. The project is scheduled to be completed by October 2017.

 

The 2016-2017 Watermain Rehabilitation Program Basis of Design Report identified this project to be completed due to the age of the waterline and a history of breaks. Professional Engineering Consultants completed construction documents and the project was advertised on April 21, 2017. Bids were opened on May 16, 2017 and the bids were read publicly aloud as follows:

Professional Engineering Consultants (PEC) has reviewed the bids, qualifications, and current project commitments of the low bidder, Banks Construction, LLC.  PEC recommends awarding the bid to Banks Construction, LLC in the amount of $368,939.20.

Fiscal Impact (Amount/Source):

The fiscal impact to the City is $368,939.20. The funding for this project is will be included in the Department of Utilities 2017 Amended Capital Improvement Plan for the 10th Street – Arkansas Street to Illinois Street and Maine Street – 10th Street to Fambrough Drive Waterline Replacement Project UT1702. The CIP amendment is scheduled for presentation at the June 6, 2017 work session.
