Recommendations/Options/Action Requested:
Authorize the City Manager to execute a Lease Agreement with Community Wireless Communications Co, d/b/a Wicked Broadband, if appropriate.
Executive Summary:		Community Wireless Communications Co, d/b/a Wicked Broadband, a Kansas corporation, has, pursuant to the City’s Fiber Policy, requested to lease 2.5 miles of dark fiber in the City’s conduit (Cable 12 on the City’s Fiber Lease Map), running between Wakarusa Drive and Iowa Street on Sixth Street. The Lease would involve one buffer tube (12 strands of fiber) for $1,875.00 per year (the policy rate). Staff prepared a Lease Agreement in accordance with the City’s Fiber Policy and Wicked Broadband as agreed to the terms. Before preparing the lease, the City asked Wicked Broadband to remove existing unauthorized equipment from the rights of way and the new management of Wicked Broadband complied promptly and effectively.  Staff requests the City Commission to authorize the City Manager to execute a Lease Agreement with Community Wireless Communications Co., d/b/a Wicked Broadband, a Kansas corporation, permitting Wicked Broadband to lease 2.5 miles of 12 strands of dark fiber in the City’s conduit (Cable 12 on the City’s Fiber Lease Map) in accordance with the City’s Fiber Policy.
