I.             Meeting called to order by Chair Humphrey

 

II.       Approval of January 10th, 2017 minutes by Chambers, and seconded by Humphrey.  Motion carried 4-0.

 

III.      Highlights/Concerns

None at this time

 

IV.       Eagle Bend Golf course – Report on course fee comparisons  

Pearson presented to staff information that he compiled comparing fees in the surrounding area.  Based on the information that has been compiled it has been determined the annual pass will not be offered. 

 

V.        P & R Master Plan – update

Shaw reported the Final draft of the Master Plan is scheduled on the City Commission work session this afternoon Tuesday, Feb. 14. 

 

VI.              Sponsorship Policy – update

Steinbrock reported a public meeting was held and a survey was posted on the City website Lawrence Listens.  The policy will be presented to the City Commission on Tuesday, Feb. 21.

 

VII.            Update on facility energy efficiency projects for 2017

Hecker reported the City Commission approved approximately 6.5 million dollars towards energy efficiency projects within Parks and Recreation.  The Capital Improvements will be paid for through the Energy Savings Program.  The energy savings will be high enough to pay for the capital expense over a period of 20 years.

 

VIII.      Community Involvement open house – March 2nd – 6:30 – 8:30pm – Library –Representatives from various non-profit boards and City Advisory Boards will be receiving an invitation from Melissa Isaacs requesting their presence to discuss opportunities that are available within our community.

           

 

IX.      Staff reports

 

i.                Recreation/ Expenses-Revenue/2016 Financial Updates –

Hecker reported he has reviewed preliminary numbers.  Revenue and expenses look good for both golf and recreation going into February.           

          

ii.               Parks/Golf Course/Projects Report/2016 financial updates –

Hecker relayed the department is working on spring prep, removing Christmas lights, removing the skating rink and prepping parks.

       

iii.        Marketing Report

Steinbrock reported the Summer/Fall 2016 Activity Guide is in the process of being created.  Class enrollments were up in January compared to last year.  Online enrollments have also increased up to 46%. 

 

 

X.        Other – The Midwest Conference will be hosted this year here in Lawrence and will be hosted by our staff.  The event will be held on April 23rd to April 25th
