ORDINANCE NO. 9353

 

AN ORDINANCE designating CERTAIN STREETS WITHIN THE CITY OF LAWRENCE, KANSAS, as main trafficwayS.

 

 

            WHEREAS, K.S.A. 12-685 et seq. (the “Act”) provides that the governing body of any city is authorized and empowered to designate and establish, by ordinance, as a main trafficway, any existing or proposed street, boulevard, avenue or part thereof, within such city, the primary function of which is, or shall be, the movement of through traffic between areas of concentrated activity within the city or between such areas within the city and traffic facilities outside the city performing the function of a major trafficway; and such designation by the governing body shall be final and conclusive; and

 

            WHEREAS, the governing body of the City of Lawrence, Kansas (the “City”), hereby finds and determines that certain streets within the City should be designated and established as main trafficways as provided by and under the authority of the Act.

 

            THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCE, KANSAS:

 

            Section 1.        Designation.  It is hereby authorized, ordered and directed, under the authority of the Act, that the streets hereinafter set forth located within the limits of the City are hereby designated and established as main trafficways:

 

Street Name

Trail Road from Kasold to Folks Road

Ousdahl Road from 26th Street to 23rd Street

W. 17th Street from Louisiana to Alabama

W. 18th Street from Louisiana to Alabama

 

            Section 2.        Effective Date.  This Ordinance shall take effect and be of force from and after its passage by the governing body of the City, approval by the Mayor and publication in the official City newspaper.

            On May 9, 2017, the governing body of the City of Lawrence, Kansas, passed an ordinance entitled:
