NO. 7203
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY
OF LAWRENCE, KANSAS, ORDERING THE IMPROVEMENT AND AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE OF
GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION, IMPROVEMENT AND REPAIR OF THE
STORM SEWER SYSTEM, INCLUDING ALL NECESSARY DESIGN, PROPERTY ACQUISITION, AND
RELATED COSTS PURSUANT TO CHARTER ORDINANCE NO 28; AND AMENDING RESOLUTION NO.
7141 OF THE CITY.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF
THE CITY OF LAWRENCE, KANSAS:
SECTION 1.
The Governing Body of the City of Lawrence, Kansas (the “City”) hereby authorizes,
orders, and directs the construction, improvement, and repair of the storm sewer
system including a pump station, piping, street repair, sidewalk replacement,
railroad crossing, levee reconstruction, levee gatewell structure and all
necessary design, property acquisition and related work for the following
project (the “Project”):
Maple Street Pump Station - an
underground stormwater pump station, located on the northwest corner of 6th and
Maple Streets, that utilizes submersible pumps to remove stormwater runoff from
watershed identified as "System 6" in the North Lawrence Drainage
Study. A small above ground electrical building will be sited at the same
location.
SECTION 2.
The estimated costs of the Project are $6,200,000, which shall be
payable from all lawful sources, including the issuance of general obligation
bonds of the City issued under the authority of Charter Ordinance No. 28 of the
City in an amount not to exceed $2,000,000 plus costs of issuance and costs on
any temporary financing.
SECTION 3. The
City expects to make additional capital expenditures on and after the date of
adoption of this Resolution in connection with the Project and the City intends
to reimburse itself for such expenditures with the proceeds of the bonds and/or
notes in the maximum principal amount of $2,000,000.
SECTION 4. Resolution
No. 7141 of the City adopted on September 15, 2015, is hereby amended in
accordance with the provisions herein.
SECTION 5. This
Resolution shall be effective from and after adoption by the Governing Body.
