Executive Summary: |
Mayor Soden and the Lawrence City Commission have been invited to sign a letter written by the Mayors National Climate Action Agenda (MNCAA) to President Donald Trump, asking him to reconsider his recent Executive Orders which would roll back critically important U.S. climate policies including the Clean Power Plan and vehicle fuel efficiency standards, as well as proposed budget cuts to the EPA and critical federal programs like Energy Star.
The Mayors National Climate Action Agenda was founded by Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, former Houston Mayor Annise Parker, and former Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter. Members represent 75 cities with a combined total of over 41 million Americans. This Agenda commits U.S. mayors to working together to strengthen local efforts for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and to supporting efforts for binding federal and global-level policymaking. |
