Adopt on first reading Ordinance No. 9343, allowing the sale, possession and consumption of alcohol in the public right-of-way on the 300 block of west 7th Street during the Rockin’ Red Music Fest event.

Executive Summary: |
The Rockin’ Red Music Fest event organizers have applied for street event temporary use of right of way permit for their 2017 event which will be held on April 29, 2017 from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. in Watson Park. The event will include the closure of the 300 block of west 7th Street.
The event applicant has requested an ordinance authorizing the sale, possession and consumption of alcohol in the 300 block of west 7th Street during their event.
The request to sell, possess and consume alcohol within the public right of way has been reviewed pursuant to City of Lawrence Code, Chapter IV, Article 1, Section 4-113 and was found to not be within 400 feet of a church or school.
