Executive Summary: |
Intersection Repair 2.0 “Intersection Repair” is a community-driven transformational neighborhood street mural project. In the spring of 2015, Alicia Kelly, Katy Clagett and The Percolator submitted and received a community arts grant from the Lawrence Cultural Arts Commission to implement and oversee a community “intersection repair” art project that included working with numerous community volunteers to paint an originally designed mural directly on the intersection of 10th and New Jersey Streets in the spring of 2016. While the overall project and installation event was highly success, unfortunately, the paint didn’t stay in place as long as hoped. With lessons learned and full reimbursement from the paint company along private support, the group has selected a new and much more suitable site―see attached―with less traffic and newer pavement. They plan to hold an Intersection Repair 2.0 event to paint the intersection the weekend of June 2-4.
