Executive Summary: |
At the May 24, 2016 City Commission meeting, Josh Shelton of el dorado inc. presented the Comprehensive Concept Design Plan for East Ninth Street and public testimony was heard. (May 24, 2016 East Ninth Agenda Memo). The construction estimate provided with the design document, including a 10 percent contingency, was $3,570,000.
The City Commission held a study session on July 12, 2016 to discuss the issues of design, funding, and scope of work for the project (July 12, 2016 East Ninth Study Session Memo).
Public Works Department was directed to develop a conceptual plan and cost estimate for a more traditional street design. The cost estimate, including engineering for a basic street reconstruction project on 9th Street from Delaware to New Hampshire, is $1,883,000, which is $1,687,000 less than the cost estimate for the design presented on May 24, 2016. The typical design for this project is presented as an alternative for the Commission’s consideration and feedback in the study session forum
