Authorize the City Manager to execute a one year lease extension for municipal court located at 1006 New Hampshire, extending the term to April 12, 2018, at an annual base rent of $94,049.00. |

Executive Summary: |
Starting in 1997, Municipal Court relocated from the Law Enforcement Center to its current location. The current lease terms date to 2007 when the City and Berkeley Plaza, Inc. entered into a lease for the Municipal Court and Prosecutor’s Office at 1006 New Hampshire Street. That lease expired in 2012. In August 2011, the parties executed an Amendment to the Lease extending the term through April 2015. A second amendment to the lease was executed in September 2014. A third amendment to the lease was executed in January 2016.
Berkeley Plaza Inc. has agreed to extend the current term for one additional year at the current annual base rent of $94,049.00. This one year lease extension will provide the City greater flexibility as it evaluates future operations of the Court. Accordingly, staff recommends the City Manager extend the lease term on year (April 2017 – April 2018).
