Authorize the Mayor to sign the City/State Agreement for the Wakarusa and Harvard Roundabout project, Project No. PW1527 (CIP No. PW17E2). |

Executive Summary: |
Wakarusa Drive is a major arterial street with a PCI of 52.85_. A section of this street is scheduled to be fully reconstructed this season (2017). The project limits are from north of Inverness Drive to just north of Harvard Road on Wakarusa Drive. A two-lane roundabout will replace the four-way stop sign configuration currently at the intersection of Harvard and Wakarusa. The project also includes: a five-lane roadway section with a center turn lane, bike lanes, six feet wide sidewalks on both sides of the street, and storm sewer upgrades.
KDOT will contribute Highway Safety Improvement Funding at a 90/10 cost share up to a maximum of $600,000 for the roundabout construction. A City/State Agreement will need to be executed to utilize the KDOT administered funds. Pursuant to the city-state agreement, KDOT will bid the project with scheduled bid date of June 20, 2017. |

This item is included in the 2017 budget (CIP No. PW17E2) for an estimated total cost of $2,500,000. KDOT will participate 90/10 with the cost of the roundabout up to $600,000. The city portion of the project ($1,900,000) will be funded with infrastructure sales tax funds. |
