Receive 2016 annual report from the Affordable Housing Advisory Board.

 

Executive Summary:

Pursuant to Ordinance 9129, the Affordable Housing Advisory Board, “shall make an annual report to the Governing Body, no later than March 1 of each year, recounting Board activities of the preceding calendar year.  Such report shall, at a minimum, disclose all financial transactions involving monies raised and received by the Board, including gifts and donations, and all projects which the Board recommended and for which the Governing Body approved expenditures of money from the Affordable Housing Trust Fund.”

 

In addition to the items called for by the Ordinance, the report also includes a set of goals the board adopted following a retreat they held in 2016.  One of those goals was to adopt definitions of affordable housing for both rental units and homeownership units.  The definition, which is highlighted in the report, will guide the work of the Board and give the community a common understanding of the term “affordable housing”.

This report has no fiscal impact to the City and therefore was not included in the budget or CIP.  However, the report describes expenditures from the City’s Affordable Housing Trust Fund, totaling $200,000, that were budgeted for 2016.
