Proclamation

Lawrence, Kansas

WHEREAS:   Dagen Korynta, a 6-year-old Lawrence boy, has been a special friend to the Solid Waste Division for a few years; and

WHEREAS:   Dagen has been thrilled by the trash trucks that go by his house each week, and has admired the job of sanitation workers; and

WHEREAS:   Dagen absolutely wants to be a garbage man when he grows up; and

WHEREAS: An organization called the Elves of Christmas Present, along with Santa Claus, Chief Elf, and his helpers, have created a life-size trash truck to help Dagen’s wish come true, matching his toy-size trash truck; and

WHEREAS:   Dagen is just slightly too young to meet labor laws and slightly too small to meet lifting requirements; and

WHEREAS:  Dagen truly has the heart and soul to be an exceptional employee for this community.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Leslie Soden, Mayor of the City of Lawrence, Kansas, do hereby proclaim January 19, 2017 as

dagen korynta is a garbage man day!

and urge the citizens of Lawrence to believe in the power of communities coming together and the magic of making dreams come true. Good luck Dagen through the rest of your treatment. Keep focused on doing the very best you can at everything you want to be!
