Executive Summary: |
An application was submitted on behalf of the City of Lawrence, property owner of record, to rezone approximately 1.45 acres from IM (Medium Industrial) District to CS (Commercial Strip) District, located at 2200 Street FF.
A Preliminary Plat application was submitted concurrently with the rezoning request and was approved unanimously by the Planning Commission at their November 16, 2016 meeting. The Preliminary Plat creates Lots 1-3 and the rezoning request would provide a uniform zoning district for Lot 2.
At the August 2, 2016 meeting, the City Commission authorized the sale of approximately 63,000 square feet of Venture Park property for the purpose of redeveloping the former Don’s Steakhouse and Diamond Everley Roofing tracts fronting on 23rd Street for hotel and restaurant uses. The rezoning request is intended to facilitate the new commercial development.
The Planning Commission considered this item at their November 16, 2016 meeting and voted unanimously to forward the rezoning request to the City Commission with a recommendation for approval. |
