I.       Meeting called to order by Chair Hack

 

II.      Approval of September 13, 2016, minutes

          Approval without a quorum, moved to the next scheduled Advisory Board meeting.

 

III.     Concerns

No concerns             

 

IV.      Draft Plans -- Eagle Bend proposed renovations

Hecker and Pearson presented a conceptual drawing of an addition to the ProShop at Eagle Bend.  The addition would include expansion of the existing snack bar eating area and restrooms.  The Kansas Golf Association has expressed interest in moving the Kansas Golf Hall of Fame into the new area.  The idea is going to vote before their Board of Directors on Saturday, November 5.  The Executive Board of Kansas Golf Association has already approved it.  A lease agreement between the two entities would be generated after all approvals have been made.                   

 

V.       P & R Master Plan --- update

Hecker reported the Steering Committee has been reviewing and prioritizing areas within the document.  Once modifications have been finalized, it will be reviewed once again by the committee before forwarding it onto GreenPlay LLC for their review and final edits.  Early November is the goal to have it sent to the commission for final approval.   

 

VIII.   Staff reports

 

i.         Recreation/ Expenses-Revenue/2016 Financial Updates

Hecker presented the September report.  Recreation revenue is doing great.  Total revenue over expense is $476,142.  Golf Course is also doing good.  Total revenue over expense $22,099.      

    

ii.         Parks/Golf Course/Projects Report/2016 financial updates

Hecker reported the mums are in the process of being planted.  Christmas lights will be installed in the coming weeks.  Along with the installation of the skate rink.

       

iii.        Marketing Report

Steinbrock reported current enrollment for the year fell by .1 percent during the month of September, we are currently at 21,000 enrollments and are now 4.78 percent behind last year’s enrollment totals for January through September.  Several holiday activities are coming up.  Currently seeking volunteers for the Prairie Park Nature center Halloween Trick-or-Treat event on Sunday, Oct. 30.       

 

X.        Other – Currently obtaining bids for the clean-up of the rifle range at the Community Building.
