Completing the second quarter of 2016, the outreach team hired Katie Fabac to replace Brad Cook, the senior outreach member, who took another position in the Bert Nash Center. The team helped to house a total of 28 families and individuals, which is more than double the number housed from the first quarter. However, the total number of clients seen was lower than the first quarter. There was an increase in the number of people served who were evicted, increasing from 1 to 6. Barriers continue to be lack of flexible funding to assist with paying deposit and rent to help people initially get into housing, adequate affordable housing stock for low and extremely low income families and individuals in the Lawrence area, and ample income/job opportunities for the clientele served (people lacking education with spotty or no work history and disabilities).
