Recommendations/Options/Action Requested:

Approve a License Agreement with Jarrod J. Simons, owner of 1503 and 1507 W 22nd Terrace for proposed parking improvements in the public right-of-way.

Executive Summary:

The property owner of duplexes located at 1503-1505 and 1507-1509 W 22nd Terrace contacted staff to discuss proposed improvements to property he had recently acquired.  He indicated a desire to provide 2 parking spaces for each dwelling unit.  The units currently have 1 graveled space per unit.

The standard driveway configuration for duplex structures includes a maximum 30’ curb cut.  The owner indicated a desire to provide 36’ wide parking trays in the right-of-way for each structure.  There is a historical pattern with similar parking configurations in this block.  The duplexes along this block were all constructed in the 1950s when vehicular parking demands were considerably less. A large tree on the property prevents construction of a standard driveway.

The City Attorney’s Office has drafted the attached License Agreement for the proposed improvements to be made in the City’s right-of-way.  The property owner has agreed to the agreement stipulations.
