Recommendations/Options/Action Requested:
Authorize the City Manager to approve the lease agreement with Roger Kitsmiller for the farm ground at the Kansas River Wastewater Treatment Plant in the amount of $4,256 annual revenue to the City.
Executive Summary:		The 56 acres of farm ground located adjacent to the Kansas River Wastewater Treatment Plant has long been leased to local farmers for crop production. The current lease was entered into in 2006 for the term of 5 years, was extended for an additional 5 years in 2011, and then again for 1 additional year for 2016.  The current tenants are Roger and Ralph Kitsmiller. The extended lease expires on January 1, 2017. Roger and Ralph Kitsmiller have requested an additional extension to this lease. The current price is comparable to current market rate for farm ground similar to this. The City of Lawrence Legal Department has reviewed the original lease and updated it. The proposed lease shall commence January 1, 2017 and expire January 1, 2020 unless both parties mutually agree to amendments to this agreement, including an extension of the term of the agreement.
