Lawrence, Kansas

 

WHEREAS:   The National Education Association and NEA Foundation’s California Casualty Awards for Teaching Excellence are unique; in addition to being recognized for excellence in instructional and professional practice, awardees are nominated by their peers – the KNEA – for their dedication to the profession, community engagement, professional development, attention to diversity, and advocacy for fellow educators; and

 

WHEREAS:   The NEA and NEA Foundation value both professional development and diversity and invite awardees to participate in its Global Learning Fellowship, where Fellows learn how to prepare their students for a connected, multicultural world and participate in a summer international field study in China; and

 

WHEREAS:   Lucinda Crenshaw, seventh grade science educator at Lawrence West Middle School, is one of forty-three educators who will receive the prestigious California Casualty Award for Teaching Excellence from the NEA and NEA Foundation in February in Washington, D.C.; and

 

WHEREAS:   Mrs. Crenshaw was previously named a finalist for Kansas Teacher of the Year in the fall of 2015, after being named Lawrence Secondary Teacher of the Year in the spring of 2015.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Mike Amyx, Mayor of the City of Lawrence, Kansas, do hereby recognize

Lucinda Crenshaw

 

for receiving the National Education Association and NEA Foundation’s California Casualty Award for Teaching Excellence and for her contributions and dedication to the students of the Lawrence community.
