Approve a street event permit for the Louise’s West 40th Anniversary Event to be held on Saturday, September 24, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and allowing for the closure of 7th Street between Michigan Street and Arkansas Street. |

Executive Summary: |
Louise’s West has applied for street event temporary use of right of way permit for their 40th Anniversary event which will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m..
The event will require the closure of 7th Street between Michigan Street and Arkansas Street on Saturday, September 24, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Louise’s West has also requested an ordinance authorizing the sale, possession and consumption of alcohol on a portion of 7th Street between Michigan Street and Arkansas Street on Saturday, September 24, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. during their event.
The request to sell, possess and consume alcohol within the public right of way has been reviewed pursuant to City of Lawrence Code, Chapter IV, Article 1, Section 4-113 for this event and was found to not be within 400 feet of a church or school.
This section of 7th street is adjacent to Louise’s West and will not restrict access to anyone’s property. The City also sent out event notification to adjacent property owners advising them of the event, as well as being on the September 6, 2016 Commission agenda (see attached notice). In addition to this notice, coordination with Parks and Recreation, Public Works, Police, Fire/Medical, Lawrence Transit, Explore Lawrence, and Lawrence Association of Neighborhoods was completed. |
