Executive Summary: |
This is a request from U.S.D. No. 497 to rezone approximately 7.7 acres located at 711 E. 23rd Street from GPI (General Public and Institutional Uses) District to IG (General Industrial) District. The request would accommodate the relocation of their facilities and operations facility and their bus fleet to this site. The GPI District does not permit fleet storage, so rezoning is necessary.
The Planning Commission considered this item at their June 20, 2016 meeting and requested a Traffic Impact Study and bus routing information so they could evaluate the impact the bus fleet would have on the nearby streets and neighborhood. This information was provided and the Planning Commission continued their consideration of the request at their July 25, 2016 meeting. Based on information provided in the study and information that was provided at the meeting by the First Student Branch Manager, the Planning Commission determined that relocating the bus fleet to this site should not negatively impact the nearby streets or neighborhood and that the bus routing would be evaluated with the review of the site plan for the proposed use. The Planning Commission voted 8 to 0, with 2 abstentions, to forward the rezoning to the City Commission with a recommendation for approval. |
