RE:	Consent Agenda-Ballistic Vest Replacement

The Police Department has an ongoing program to replace out of warranty ballistic vests for all commissioned officers. The replacements are based on when each vest was issued and are replaced every five (5) years.  Currently, there are 35 vests that need to be replaced in 2016.  The department will need to purchase 14 new vests for the officers in the 37^th Basic Recruit Academy.

The Police Department requested bids for a Point Blank Alpha Elite 3A Brand Ballistic Vest.  Three (3) bids were received and are listed below:

Southern Uniform & Equipment	$812.15 each
Galls, LLC	$845.83 each
Bob Barker Co., Inc.	$798.00 each (alternative vest)

Funding:

Funding was approved in the 2016 budget.

Action Request:

Award bid for 49 Point Blank Alpha Elite Ballistic Vests from the low bidder, Southern Uniform & Equipment, for $812.15 each, or a total of $39,795.35.
