RE: |
Free Play Court – Sports Pavilion Lawrence |
An administrative decision was made by the Parks and Recreation Director with approval from the City Manager not to offer free play at Sports Pavilion Lawrence during the Hardwood Classic Basketball Tournament, July 21 - 24.
With the large numbers of players and spectators that will be present it is extremely challenging to keep one court open for free play. 296 teams from 17 different states are competing in this year’s event. It has been our experience that even during much smaller tournaments this court quickly gets overrun with tournament participants wanting to warm up and/or their siblings looking for something to do. With this in mind we have reserved the following free play times at our other recreation centers for Lawrence and Douglass County resident use during the tournament.
