RE:	Signs of Community Interest Request, Downtown Lawrence Sidewalk Sale

Background

Downtown Lawrence Inc. is coordinating the 57^th Annual Downtown Lawrence Sidewalk sale to be held on Thursday, July 21, 2016. To promote the event the organization is requesting approval to post signs at various locations (listed below) within the street right of way and on private property beginning Wednesday, July 13.  Signs would be removed by Friday, July 22, 2016.  The proposed signs are banners that would be 4 feet by 8 feet in area (see attached photo).

Requested locations:

• Watson Park at 6^th Street
• Northwest corner of 23rd Street and Massachusetts Street
• Southwest corner of 19^th Street and Haskell Avenue
• On private property on the vacant lot south of 1811 Wakarusa Drive

Action

Approve as “signs of community interest”, a request from Downtown Lawrence Inc. to place signs at various locations to promote the Downtown Sidewalk Sale event from July 13 through July 22, 2016.
