Battalion Command Vehicle Unit #675 |
Background
Unit #675, Fire Battalion Command Vehicle, was authorized be the City Commission on April 19, 2016 to replace with the remaining slated equipment reserve. Unit #675 is in need of high costs repair and is at the end of it replacement schedule. Bid No. 1625 was sent per city purchasing policy for one pursuit rated 4x4 rated utility vehicle. No bids were returned. Staff has exercised a cooperative purchase pricing structure based on the KC Metro cooperative purchase contract.
Staff Recommendation
Central Maintenance Garage staff and Fire and Medical staff recommend the purchase of one Chevrolet Tahoe Pursuit rated SUV for operations as a Battalion Command Vehicle in the Fire and Medical Department utilizing the KC Metro cooperative purchasing contract. Metro contract price with included options is for $38,521.00.
Funding
Funding for the replacement would utilize the deferred replacement of unit #698 and the remaining balance of the allotted equipment reserve budgeted for 2016 replacements.
Action
Authorize Central Maintenance and Fire and Medical to replace unit #675 utilizing the remanding funding budgeted in the 2016 equipment reserve with a Pursuit rated Tahoe from Robert’s Chevrolet utilizing the KC Metro Cooperative purchase price for $38,521.00.
