Project Description

The 2016 KLINK project includes the milling and overlay of pavement on Iowa Street between 23rd Street and north of 31st Street. Repairing this section of road will complete resurfacing efforts on Iowa Street that have been performed each summer for the last few years from the south city limits north to 6th Street. New pavement markings will be included and video detection camera systems will be installed on traffic signals at the 31st & Iowa, 27th & Iowa, and 25th & Iowa intersections. The project will cause minor traffic interruptions and lane closures during the mill and overlay operations, but will maintain at least one through lane in each direction at all times (see attached location map).

Project Funding

The project bid was $790,867.15. The city had budgeted for the project to cost $800,000 with KDOT contributing $300,000 and the balance being funded from street maintenance funds.
