Todd Lohman elected President-Elect 2016-2017 of the International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA)

Todd Lohman, Traffic Operations Supervisor is the recently elected President-Elect 2016-2017 of the International Municipal Signal Association IMSA. Todd has been an active member of IMSA since 2002 holding various local delegation and committee positions representing the Central Section. Currently Todd is a member of the International governing body of the IMSA as a Director-at-Large, as well as serving on numerous policy and legislative committees. Todd’s dedications to his profession and hard work within the organization have made this election possible. Congratulations Todd.

 

461 Tons of compost and woodchips distributed during giveaway event

During a Customer Appreciation Day on Saturday, June 4th, the City’s Solid Waste Division distributed a total 510 cubic yards (281 tons) of compost and 624 cubic yards (180 tons) of woodchips. This free surplus material was loaded into residents’ trucks and trailers. A total of 472 vehicles participated in this Compost and Woodchip Giveaway Event. Lawrence ranked the #2 best smallest metro for job seekers

Lawrence has been ranked #2 for the best smallest metro for job seekers in the 2016 Employment Destination Index by the American Institutes for Economic Research (AIER). Each year AIER considers key criteria such as diversity, employment, and community life to rank the 75 best metro areas for job seekers. This year Lawrence was ranked #2 smallest metro for job seekers based on its impressive education rates, high labor force participation, and notable quality of life.

 

LPRD Horticulture – KU Big Event

The KU Big Event is a day of volunteer work for the students, faculty, and staff of the University of Kansas.  This year, a group of ten and a group of four mulched and laid out weed paper in Veterans Park and in Buford Watson Jr. Park.  See attached for more information.
