Final Report from KDOT on Alternatives for E. 1200 Road/Kasold Drive & K-10 |
Background
The eastern leg of the South Lawrence Trafficway (SLT) is anticipated to be completed and open later this year (November 2016). When this occurs Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) expects traffic on the western leg to increase significantly. The intersection at E. 1200 Road/Kasold Drive & K-10 is an at grad intersection with stop control on E. 1200 Road/Kasold Drive. Traffic on K-10 has no intersection control at this intersection.
Over the last several months KDOT has met with the public, City and County to look at alternative short-term improvements that will make this intersection safer when the eastern leg of K-10 is completed.
Project Specifics – KDOT reviewed four alternatives for this intersection. The four alternatives include:
The attached report includes all the information and traffic analysis for all four alternatives.
At this time KDOT is recommending proceeding with Alternative #3. This project can be accomplished prior to and upon opening of the eastern portion of K-10. KDOT is requesting the Commissions feedback on the recommended alternative.
KDOT will be presenting this study to the County Commission on Wednesday, June 22nd.

Pending discussion, provide KDOT with the Commissions feedback on the recommended Alternative #3.
